It is funny that a lot of people drink alcohol without even knowing stuffs they should know. Some people even think they are drinking light when in fact their choice of drink is just the opposite. Others drink hot black coffee after drinking to sober up but does it really help?

Here are some quick facts about alcohol drinking that are often left neglected or ignored at all but they are a great help. Read on and you might just have a new outlook and habit in drinking:

  • A lot of people drink red wine because it is good for the heart, so they say. But it will only be good if you drink in moderation. Overindulgence to red wine will not be good for health at all.

  • Beer, wine, or spirits usually have similar amounts of pure alcohol in them. So don’t think you are drinking light just because you choose a glass of red wine over a bottle of beer.

  • A lot of people think that if they drink a variety of alcohol, they will get intoxicated faster. The fact is that it is not the types of alcohol that makes a person intoxicated, it is the level of blood alcohol content that makes a person drunk. So even if you drink the same beer all night, you will still get intoxicated faster if you drink more than you should at a particular period of time.

  • Both white wine and red wine are products of red grapes. It is just that the red wine keeps the red skin of the grapes while the white wine just gets the juice.

  • When drinking alcohol, you should limit your intake to at least one drink per hour. This will help maintain a low level of blood alcohol content. Don’t drink continuously. There should be an interval of at least an hour.

  • When the drinking is over, you need to sober up. The best way to sober up is to wait it out. Only time will make you sober up. The body needs at least an hour to burn off the alcohol you have taken. So don’t think the black coffee does the trick!

  • Alcohol is often viewed as one of the culprits for weight gain. Although alcohol really contributes to weight gain, moderate consumption appears not contribute to weight gain at all.

These bits of facts will help you understand alcohol drinking a bit more. It is through knowledge and understanding that people become responsible drinkers.
